Introductory to beekeeping

During this in person workshop we will begin with a farm tour and discussion on biodiversity and planting for pollinators, followed by a provided lunch, after lunch we will discuss and practice:
- Selecting the best location for your hive
- Lighting a smoker
- How to install a nuc
- Bee biology
- Equipment needed
- Hive inspections
- Disease and pests
- Beekeeping regulations
This workshop is approximately 6 hours in length and is perfect for individuals who have ordered nucs or are seriously considering beekeeping as a hobby. These courses will be taking place in Athens Ontario, a few minutes north of Lynhurst. This course is outdoors and weather dependent - we will reschedule if the weather does not permit bee work.
